Approaching 150 years old, these gorgeous massive white oak doors were in need of some love. The hardware was rusting and the wood was weathered.
We sanded off the old finish, replaced wood deemed too rotted for refinishing, and stained and sealed the doors with marine grade varnish. We cleaned up the hardware and sealed it with a high quality enamel paint. Restoring these church doors to their former glory was absolutely an honor.
Window casings, jams, and sashes were stripped of paint and taken to bare wood before staining to match the existing woodwork in the house. Sash pulleys had paint removed and were polished, and old sash ropes were replaced.
Completed and reinstalled door
These storm windows and casing underwent a full restoration! We addressed rot on the sashes and casing, reglazed all of the windows, stripped and reused the original hardware, and got rid of the old, cracked and flaking paint to allow for a fresh coat and many more years of life to come!
This basement staircase was not only an eye sore but a safety hazard.
We took the staircase completely apart and installed new, structurally sound framing. Under the linoleum tiles we found beautifully worn old growth maple treads, and the customer agreed they were worth cleaning up. The treads were refinished with a natural, linseed oil based finish to showcase their beauty and character. Finally, we prepped and painted the surrounding trim and the new risers. The result? Beautiful, safe, lasting staircase with some 1907 charm!
